A Bronx man has been charged with attempted murder in connection to the shooting of a Middletown police officer.
Desean Owens, 29, is accused of shooting the officer while he was attempting to help a woman who flagged him down on Saturday.
Officials say the officer was shot in the forearm and fired back, wounding Owens, who remains alive. Owens was arraigned Monday from his hospital bed.
Authorities say a loaded handgun was recovered at the scene and that both the officer and suspect are expected to recover.
The district attorney's office is handling the investigation since it's an officer-involved shooting
