A Pleasantville company is making sure that residents aren't missing out on their dance lessons.
Breaking Ground Dance has moved all of their 180 dance classes online, according to owner and director Marissa Giacobbe.
"We realize now more than ever how much kids need to have that joy and normalcy and interaction they get through dance," Giacobbe says. "And even though we are not in the studio they can still get that at home."
Normally the dance company hosts five shows at SUNY Purchase that reach 4,000 people in attendance. Giacobbe says although the in-person shows cannot take place, they will be holding a virtual dance party.
The virtual dance party will be hosted by Molly Gray, who played Giggles in Disney's Teen Beach Movie.
"She is going to be teaching some of the moves and choreography from the movie so it's going to be a really great time for dancers but all kids who just love the movie," Giacobbe says.
The virtual dance party will be next Sunday at 3 p.m. and is free for Breaking Ground Dance members. Non-members will need to pay $10 to join.
