Former actor Lillo Brancato Jr. was found not guilty Monday of murder in the shooting death of an off-duty police officer.

Brancato, a Yonkers native, was convicted of a lesser attempted-burglary charge. He faces a minimum of three years in prison on that count, but could get credit for time served because he has been behind bars about that long.

Prosecutors accused Brancato and an accomplice, Steven Aremento, of breaking into a Bronx apartment next to the home of Officer Daniel Enchautegui in December 2005. When the officer came to investigate, Armento shot him in the heart.

Brancato faced a second-degree murder charge in Enchautegui's death. Armento was convicted of first-degree murder on Oct. 30 and later sentenced to life in prison without parole.
