A 5-year-old boy that was killed in a Cortlandt car crash was buried Thursday.

Police believe Nancy Murtha, the boy?s mother, may have turned around to check on her son in the back seat before the accident. Her Lexus suddenly veered off the road and hit a rock wall. The boy was fastened into a car seat, but died from a neck injury.

Jacob Murtha died of the injuries he sustained in the July 29 crash. The funeral had been delayed while his mother, Nancy Murtha, recovered from her injuries.

New York state troopers escorted the hearse carrying Jacob's body to Peekskill's Assumption Church for the funeral. Friends and family joined the Murthas for the service.
