Westchester County Legislator Catherine Borgia is speaking to News 12 first since making a major decision in her political future.
Borgia announced yesterday her decision to drop her name from the slew of candidates vying to replace Rep. Nita Lowey in the 17th district.
Once considered a frontrunner in the race, Borgia says she is stepping aside for the greater good.  “I think there is a lot of Westchester candidates in the race and we need to coalesce around one person. I do believe it’s very important that the person who represents our area understand the needs of our families and the working people of Westchester County and I think its strategically smart for use to coalesce around one candidate.”
Eleven Democrats and one Republican remain in the race.
