A Bronx restaurant is known for its mouth-watering alcapurrias.

Margarita's Restaurant on 915 Avenue St John Street got its start as a food truck before moving into a brick and mortar store.

The establishment is known for their famous alcapurrias, a deep-fried fritter dish from Puerto Rico which consists of banana, eddoe, achiote and ground beef.

Owner Margarita Brito says her late mother Reyna Margarita-Prospero perfected the recipe, opened the first food truck and became the inspiration for the restaurant's name.

Faithful food truck customers are still around, Brito says, while a new generation of alcapurria lovers have been born in the Bronx.
