Police say they found the body of a woman who had been shot to death in Yorktown's Junior Lake Park Monday morning.

Authorities cordoned off the area of the park and medical examiners spent hours taking photos of the body and searching the surrounding area. Police say the woman was a white female about 40 to 50 years old.

Neighbors say they're surprised by the discovery and concerned because children typically play in the park.
