A boater is in serious condition at Westchester Medical Center Sunday after police say they had to track him down.
Marine units spent the day looking for survivors near the 35-foot boat, which was almost completely submerged. The boat's bottom was ripped apart by a crash into big rocks surrounding a Hudson River lighthouse in Nyack.
"We found a parked vehicle in the Haverstraw Marina," said Rockland Sheriff's Department Detective Lt. William Barbera. "We ran the license plate and it came back to an address in upper Nyack. Officers went to that address and actually did find the operator of the boat in his house. As it turns out, he has severe head trauma and facial injuries."
Lennon Duffy, 26, was transported to the hospital. Police believe he left on foot after the crash.
According to police, Duffy told them he dropped off two passengers shortly before the incident. Police are investigating whether alcohol played a role in the crash. No charges have been filed.
