The board of a free medical clinic in Rockland County is set to discuss ways to keep the center open after the recent death of the 91-year-old doctor who ran it.

Dr. Lloyd Hamilton operated a free clinic out of an old church convent in Nyack.

His patients couldn't always afford to pay him, so patients would give what they could.

"All we had to pay was the insurance and the utilities. All of the help that he had there were volunteered,” says Terry Hekker, a board member of Health Lifeline.

The clinic served mostly undocumented immigrants and uninsured patients - people who without him may not have been able to get medical treatment.

The board of the Health Lifeline clinic will meet later this month to discuss ways to keep the clinic running without the doctor.
