An Ardsley Board of Education member resigned Wednesday over her teenage son's repeated school disciplinary problems.
Stephanie Marquesano stepped down, causing some Ardsley Middle School parents to let out a sigh of relief. The community elected Marquesano to the post last September.
Police confirmed that her 14-year-old threatened a massacre at the school in a blog, resulting in an early dismissal on June 3. The boy also made threats against classmates the weekend before, according to police.
No charges were ever filed because police said the threats didn't meet the standard of being criminal. The boy's parents eventually removed him to an alternative program.
Interim Superintendent Jason Friedman says Marquesano's decision to step down was personal. "There certainly are some lessons ... for us to look at and I think we need to do that ... as a community and as an administrative board," Friedman said.
