An teenager who beat a brain tumor is returning the favor by helping organize the gift of life in Orange County.

A blood drive was held at the Chester firehouse on Main Street yesterday in honor of 14-year-old Kimmy Salotti.

A spokesperson with the New York Blood Center tells News 12 that Salotti is alive and well today because of numerous blood donations the young girl has received. "She's needed more than 20 units of blood transfusions and blood products over the last two years. So at this time she's doing remarkably well, because of blood donations. Those donations have helped to save her life," says Dina Bisbing.

The blood drive was organized by the Chester Rotary and Girl Scout Troop 323.
