The principal of Bedford Hills Elementary School was fired for failing to report the alleged abuse of a student.
Victoria Graboski was charged by police in August for not reporting suspected child abuse to the proper authorities. Police say 27-year-old Cesar Joel Sagastume-Morales raped the 9-year-old daughter of his girlfriend. Morales took off and police are still looking for him. Five other teachers were also suspended with pay stemming from the same incident.
The Bedford School Board voted unanimously Wednesday to fire Graboski on November 10 when her probationary appointment ends. School officials say their attorneys are still working with the lawyers of the other five staff members to iron out remaining issues. Interim principal Fred Mertz will continue to serve until the end of the school year.
