Police say they are now warning neighbors to put extra precautions in place because this year is a very active bear season. "They come, they are investigating, and they move on. Unless there is a food source. That becomes a problem because it causes repetitive behavior in the bear where they know a particular house has a bird feeder or a particular house leaves their garbage out," says Ramapo Police Capt. Brad Weidel.
Police say despite being cute and cuddly looking, the bears can be very dangerous and should be avoided at all costs.
