Hundreds soaked up the sun at Playland Park Beach in Rye Monday, to honor Memorial Day and celebrate the unofficial start of summer.
It was the first weekend in 2019 beaches and pools across the Hudson Valley are open.
Crowds of people even braved the cold water to get their first taste of summer.
Not everyone decided to take to the beach though -- some got active by fishing, biking and kayaking along a trail at Tarrytown Lake.
