An odd sight was seen flying in the sky above a high school baseball game Monday.
A banner being pulled by a plane called for Briarcliff baseball head coach John Schrader and assistant coach Walter Kowalcyk to permanently be ejected from the game.
In 7-foot-tall letters, the message said, "Fire Coaches Schrader and Kowalcyk," as it flew high above the outfield during the Briarcliff Bears Section One quarterfinal playoff game Monday.
The owner of Fly Signs Aerial Advertising tells News 12 that parents pitched in more than $1,200 for the 30-minute flyby.
The Briarcliff superintendent of schools responded to the prank in a statement that read in part, "Yesterday's flyover served to highlight what can happen when adults lose perspective on high school sports. In an attempt to promote self-interest, some adults become willing conspirators in the theft of joy from youth athletic programs."
Despite the ominous writing in the sky, the Briarcliff players still beat Irvington 13-0.
The school says it is fully backing the coaches.
The Briarcliff High School baseball squad is in its second consecutive sectional playoff.
