A higher bail was set Wednesday for the Rockland County woman charged in a fatal hit-and-run accident in White Plains.
The judge raised the bail of Shelden Campbell from $25,000 to $200,000 in cash or bond after it was revealed that the Pomona resident is facing additional charges in New Jersey, including driving drunk with a child, leaving her 10-year-old alone and assaulting a police officer.
Campbell now has new representation in the case since she cannot afford the private attorney she originally hired. Campbell?s new attorney, David Rich, says it is likely his client will not be able to pay the high bail amount.
Campbell is accused of leaving the scene of two separate incidents that claimed the life of 65-year-old Marie Bucci and injured 45-year-old Roseanne Schiavone in White Plains on Oct. 19. She is currently being held at the psychiatric unit in the Westchester County Jail.
