News 12 Westchester has learned that the U.S. Attorney?s Office has expanded its criminal investigation into the life of Westchester's former district attorney.Federal authorities are apparently looking into whether Jeanine Pirro used the Westchester County database to check on contributors during her brief campaign against Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) in 2005. According to Pirro family spokesperson, Mike Edelman, the former DA wanted to make sure she wasn't accepting any money from convicted felons or people under investigation. Pirro?s attorneys told News 12 Westchester, ?The Westchester DA?s office handles more than 35,000 cases annually. It was perfectly prudent to be certain that no contributions were accepted from any person who might be under investigation or otherwise prosecuted.? Pirro is still under a federal investigation concerning allegations she tried to illegally wiretap her husband?s boat to find out if he was having an affair. In addition, prosecutors are also investigating a jewelry-designing business Pirro ran while she was in office.
