The Mount Vernon Police Department conducted a cooperative detail on Friday and after attempting to conduct a traffic stop, one of the passengers ran from the car while the car itself fled.
After a short pursuit, the individual was found to be in possession of an illegally possessed firearm.
Mount Vernon police thanked the plainclothes Violent Crime Unit and the entire department for keeping the city safe.
