An Armonk man is in the Westchester County Jail Wednesday on charges that he sexually abused a 5-year-old girl and stored child pornography on his computer.
Richard Royal, 53, was arrested by North Castle police Wednesday after a complaint was filed by the grandmother of a 5-year-old girl. A search warrant was issued on Royal?s Annadale Street home and his computer was seized. According to police, the pornography was apparently downloaded from the Internet and did not involve the child Royal is accused of molesting.
Royal is charged with first-degree sexual abuse and possessing a sexual performance by a child, both felonies. Police say the investigation is continuing and additional charges are possible. He is being held without bail and is due back in court on August 8.
