An app is letting people connect with loved ones who are hospitalized.

Dr. Richard Evans at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern co-developed the Family First Messenger app in 2018 but it has since taken on a new role.

Health care facilities are using it to provide loved ones with daily updates on how a COVID-19 patient is doing.

The message can be sent in any language and the whole family can be included, even if they are across the world.

Family First Messenger is currently being used by several hospitals and long-term care facilities in Rockland and Orange counties.
Dr. Evans says he hopes more facilities try it out so families all around the world can feel the benefits of this easy communication.
