Anti-war protests heat up in Westchester, Hudson Valley on heels of Bush's speech
While the nation's capital was the site for a large anti-war rally Saturday, smaller protests took place across Westchester and Hudson Valley.
Drivers honked their horns in support of Iraq anti-war protesters at the corner of Weaver Street and Palmer Avenue in Larchmont. More than 50 people braved the cold to send a message to get the troops out of Iraq. More anti-war protestors took to the streets of White Plains. Many say the deaths of Iraqis and Americans points to a failed policy. They say sending more troops now as President Bush requested won't work.
Protester Jane Mercaldi says there may be light at the end of the tunnel. She says the Democrats might now have the support needed to stop the war. Protesters in Washington, D.C. and in Westchester and Hudson Valley say they plan to lobby Democratic lawmakers to convince them to cut war funding.
