Alleged Tarrytown drug store thief busted in the Bronx
A 21-year-old Bronx man is in custody after he was caught on surveillance video allegedly robbing a Tarrytown Walgreens, according to police.
Police say they were able to catch Mamadou Fofana with the help of the video and due to fingerprints he left behind.
Police believe Fofana may also be responsible for half a dozen similar crimes. Tarrytown police teamed up with the NYPD because of a rash of similar robberies in Manhattan over the past few months. It turned out that Fofana was a suspect in those robberies as well.
Fofana was arrested around 2:30 a.m. Friday in the Bronx. Police searched his apartment and say they found some of the clothing he wore on some of the robberies.
Fonfana is charged with armed robbery. Police say he stole about $65,000 and they are working on recovering it.
Fofana is being held without bail in Tarrytown. He will be transported to Westchester County Jail after he is arraigned.
