An Airmont community expressed outrage after a mother of two was accused of putting her 7-year-old son in a burning oven as punishment.

Tiffany Fraser, 26, was arrested Friday after police say she put her son in the oven during the summer after he lost her cell phone. Police didn?t discover the alleged abuse until Fraser?s son went missing. When the boy was found by authorities, he told police about the stove incident.

Police believe the young boy showed up at a private day care center on Country Club Lane in Airmont with visible burns, but the owner, Joelle Lherisson, didn't report the suspected child abuse. Lherisson was charged with failure to report the incident.

The incident not only horrified authorities, but neighbors as well. One resident said she can?t believe a mother would do that over something as ?stupid as losing a cell phone.? Other neighbors said Fraser should have sought help in dealing with her twin sons.

Fraser?s boys are under the care of child protective services. Fraser was released on her own recognizance and is due back in court later this month.
