Activists were out Tuesday protesting a multimillion-dollar agreement that houses Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainees at the Orange County Correctional Facility.
Hundreds protested outside of the Goshen facility. In a statement, the Orange County Sheriff's Office said it respects people's right to protest but disagrees with accusations made noting, "Any person being detained by ICE and housed within the OCCF is there as part of the legal process established by law. Most detainees have committed crimes within the United States separate and apart from the crime of illegally crossing into the country."
OCCF doesn't house children, but activists say families are affected by laws they consider to be inhumane close to home.
A second protest will be held at the Orange County Correctional Facility from 8-9 p.m. Friday.
