A local environmental activist was charged with disorderly conduct after a disagreement at a town board meeting Monday about the town’s efforts to control the beaver population at Mombasha Park in Monroe.
Sharon Scheer, who has been issued a summons to appear in court, called the police on herself following the heated disagreement to make the issue known about the beavers.
Monroe Supervisor Tony Cardone told News 12 that the town had three beavers at the park exterminated last year due to flooding and safety concerns. He says others remain.
Scheer says that she believes all the beavers were killed.
She says she plans to plead guilty in court later this month and faces a fine.
