Accused killer Diana Nadell arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court
A Florida woman was arraigned this morning in the murder of her mother-in-law, Rockland political activist Peggy Nadell.
Diana Nadell was arraigned on charges that she killed her husband's mother at the woman's Valley Cottage home in January. It was announced in court that Nadell now faces upgraded charges of first-degree murder.
Police say she recruited three other women to murder 80-year-old Peggy Nadell, her mother-in-law and a well-known political activist, in order to get her hands on a $4 million inheritance. Her mother-in-law was found stabbed to death in her Valley Cottage home.
Longtime friend Kristen Stavisky says the pain over Peggy Nadell's death has not gone away. "It's a terrible tragedy. We miss her every day. But this is the beginning we hope of...you can never heel from this, but at least moving forward I will be there for her daughter, her son-in-law and I'm here for Peggy," says Stavisky.
Nadell was remanded to the Rockland County Jail without bail. A grand jury will be convened next week to review the charges.
