A serious accident on the Cross County Parkway made the morning commute a nightmare for motorists Monday.The accident occurred on the westbound side of the parkway near the Saw Mill River Parkway in Yonkers. According to officials, the accident involved one car and took place at around 4:30 a.m.Officials say five people were in the car. Three of the people were taken to Westchester Medical Center and are in stable condition. The other two people were taken to Jacobi Medical Center, but their conditions are not yet known.

The westbound side of the parkway was closed approximately five hours and has since reopened.
