Abduction of New Rochelle worker ends in fiery crash
An attempted robbery and abduction turned into a high-speed police chase Friday that ended in a fiery crash. Police say Dino Esposito was leaving his contracting business on 3rd Street and Lafayette Avenue around 4 p.m. Friday when he was approached by two masked men demanding money. When Esposito, 42, refused to give up his money, the men reportedly abducted him and brought him to his Bronx home. Esposito told police that the men pistol-whipped him in front of his wife and then stole thousands of dollars. Police say the men proceeded to steal Esposito?s SUV to use as a getaway car. Esposito himself jumped in another car and chased the two men. Police joined the chase, which ended in a crash on the Bronx River Parkway. The suspects allegedly attempted to dispose of their weapons by throwing a 10-mm gun and a 45-caliber semi-automatic out of the car window. They were arrested and are being held at the 45th Precinct in the Bronx. The men face several charges, including kidnapping, robbery and assault.
