Abducted 4-year-old girl found safe
An Amber Alert has been canceled for a 4-year-old Bronx girl who was found safe in Queens.
According to the NYPD, Mia Olarte was taken to Elmhurst Hospital for evaluation after being abducted by her biological mother, 49-year-old Dora Olarte, during a supervised visit at a foster care center in Mott Haven Monday night.
Officials say Olarte does not have custody of her daughter, who has Down syndrome and lives with a foster family in the Mount Hope section of the Bronx. However, she does have weekly visitation at the New York Foundling at 170 Brown Place.
Olarte is now being questioned in the incident. The New York Foundling says it will work with police during the investigation.
