Those planning on traveling for the holiday will be in good company this year.

AAA expects a record breaking 112.5 million Americans will travel during the yearend holiday period.

This is the highest number of holiday travelers since AAA began tracking the trend in 2001.  

AAA says 91 percent of travelers will get to their holiday destinations by car, while 6.7 million travelers will travel by air.  

The yearend holiday period runs from Saturday, Dec. 22 through Tuesday, Jan. 1.
