An 81-year-old graduated from Rockland Community College on Sunday.

Trudy Murdoch, of New Hempstead, received a degree in liberal arts.

Murdoch says she married young, raised three children and worked full time. She began as a bank teller and rose to district manager, which forced her to start and stop her studies at RCC over the years.

The dream of obtaining a degree remained, and in 2011 she returned to school.
