70-year-old dies while assessing damage to his car from deer strike in Mamakating

A man was struck and killed while checking out the damage to a vehicle from a deer strike.

A man was struck and killed while checking out the damage to a vehicle from a deer strike.
State police say it happened on Friday night on Route 209 in the Sullivan County town of Mamakating.
Police say a vehicle was heading south on the roadway when the driver struck a deer.
The 33-year-old driver, James Harrington, of Mamakating, and his 70-year-old father, James, of Deerpark, got out of the vehicle.
They were assessing the damage when a car travelling north struck the 70-year-old.
He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The driver of the car remained at the scene.
