7 displaced after massive fire rips through Thornwood group home
A fire ripped through a group home in Thornwood Friday morning, leaving seven residents displaced.
The incident occurred at 1035 Broadway at a home owned by Apropos Housing -- a group home that serves low-income seniors, adults with disabilities and single-parent families.
About a dozen fire departments and mutual aid companies helped extinguish the fire, which appeared to have started in a bedroom on the second floor.
There were no reported injuries and officials are continuing to probe what may have sparked the blaze.
Officials say the American Red Cross is taking care of the seven people who were evacuated from the house, who were taken to another facility on the property.
