A Brewster girl vacationing on Long Island is dead after the toy wagon she was in rolled out into traffic.
Police say Maggie Sheerin, 5, was playing outside Sunday while her father was inside with a sibling preparing for a trip to the beach. According to police, the wagon rolled down the driveway and onto Montauk Highway in Amagansett.
Officials say a car smashed into the wagon and then crashed into a guardrail.
The girl and the driver of the car were taken to the hospital, where the girl was pronounced dead. The driver received minor injuries.
Police say the driver of the vehicle will not be charged since the incident was an accident.
