Con Ed crews worked throughout Monday to restore power to 2,500 customers in Mount Vernon.
The customers in the Fleetwood neighborhood were left without power and without air conditioning on a day when temperatures hit almost 90 degrees in some areas.
Neighbors along Broad Street say they saw a transformer blow.
Tony Ribeiro, the owner of Swirls and Scoops on West Broad Street, says that the outage combined with the hot weather was a pain to deal with.
Officials say power has been restored to the area.
