Many people are worried about the potential for power outages due to the impending snowstorm.

Linden Street in Yonkers experienced power outages for up to a week during Tropical Storm Isaias in August.

Resident Elquiza Collado recalls it as a bad time. 

“It wasn't good because I didn't get my power right away,” says Collado. “I had everything in my fridge that got destroyed and Con Edison never reimbursed for anything.”

As expected, residents are fearing the worst when it comes to 2020’s first nor'easter.

“We don't want to experience that again and with this storm coming, I am very worried,” says resident Pheobah Bennett.

For reassurance to Yonkers, Con Edison says it is prepared to respond to service problems, plans to supplement 225 mutual aid workers and are in close contact with the Westchester County Department of Emergency Services.

Meanwhile, NYSEG, which covers Putnam and northern Westchester, says it is prepared for the storm, with multiple crews stationed throughout the area.

A spokesman for NYSEG issued a statement saying in part, “We have additional NYSEG crews coming from other areas of the state, as well as local contract crews, line crews, and vegetation management crews in the Brewster and Westchester County areas on standby ready to respond.”

Westchester County Executive George Latimer remained positive in a press conference Wednesday by reassuring the county that this is nothing new and they will get through this.
