An overnight fire ripped through a Yonkers apartment, leaving about 60 people homeless.
About 70 firefighters responded to the fire on Nepperhan Avenue around 3:15 a.m. It started in the top floor and caused the roof to collapse.
Fire officials say it took about six or seven hours to get the fire under control.
They say it was harder to extinguish the fire because of the roof collapse.
"It's harder to get the water into the pockets where the actual fire is because that area is being protected by the roofing material that fell on it," said Yonkers Deputy Fire Chief Joseph Delasho. "So it takes a lot long to get the fire out."
The fire reached three alarms at one point.
However, officials report no one was seriously injured.
The Red Cross is now helping the 20 families that were displaced by the fire.
Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire, but say it does not look suspicious.
