One teen is facing a felony hate crime charge and another aggravated assault after police say they attacked a black student at Westchester Community College on Tuesday.
Police say four white teenagers allegedly began taunting a 19-year-old black student from Dobbs Ferry with racial epithets while they were standing in line to register for classes. When the alleged victim asked them to stop, one of the teens allegedly hit him in the face and the others joined in.
Two of the teens got away. The 19-year-old student suffered a lump on the side of his face. News 12 Westchester is awaiting word on his condition. If it worsens, the suspects could face more serious charges.
Students say they?re shocked something like that could happen on their campus.
"All the races pretty much get along here and hang out together so I was just shocked," says Westchester Community College student Laquana Collymore.
