Two Newburgh residents are facing charges after getting caught with illegal firearms, authorities say.
On Friday, state troopers stopped a car on Lander Street in Newburgh for a traffic violation.
When an officer approached the vehicle, the two passengers allegedly tried to run away.
After a search of the vehicle, police say they found two guns -- a Magnum revolver and a semi-automatic pistol.
Nelson Coronado, 18, and a juvenile, both from the city of Newburgh, were charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
Coronado was remanded to Orange County Jail in lieu of bail, and the juvenile was released on his own recognizance.
The driver of the car was issued four tickets.
