Two people are dead after two cars collided head-on Friday on Route 22.
It happened near Reed Farm Drive in Brewster at around 1 p.m. Police say Kathleen Bassick, 47, of Danbury, Connecticut, drove her Hyundai southbound into a Subaru SUV that was headed in the opposite direction.
Douglas Cable, 56, of Brewster, was a passenger in the second vehicle. Both Bassick and Cable died.
Police say the driver of the SUV, Joseph Ruffalo, 55, of Mahopac, suffered minor injuries. He was rushed to Danbury Hospital and released Friday evening.
The crash shut down traffic for four hours.
Investigators say it's unclear what caused the crash, but state police say there is no indication that drugs or alcohol were involved.
Route 22 is a two-lane road, with just one lane for each direction of traffic.
