2 hospitalized after Irvington stabbing incident
Police are investigating a stabbing near the Metro-North train station in Irvington.
The incident took place at around 6:30 p.m. outside a restaurant at the end of Main Street. Police say they received a call that a man had stabbed a woman near the platform of the train station.
Irvington Police Chief Michael Cerone says it was an off-duty fire chief that stepped in to help.
"Fire Chief Chris Depoli of the Irvington Fire Department, he witnessed it and came to the woman's aid the best that he could at the time," said Cerone.
Authorities say the suspect ended up injured, but did not elaborate on how that transpired.
Both the male suspect and the female victim were sent to Westchester Medical Center. The suspect is in custody despite being hospitalized, as police and the MTA continue to investigate. The extent of the suspect's and the victim's injuries is unknown.
