An old knitting factory from the 1800s has been restored and converted into a 60,000-square-foot winery in Orange County.

The factory, now known as City Winery, took just two years to restore.

The Hudson Valley location on Factory Street in Montgomery joins 11 locations nationwide, including three in New York City.

The multimillion-dollar renovation includes indoor and outdoor dining, wine tasting and space for large events like weddings and concerts.

Owner Michael Dorf says 20 different wines are made at the location from grapes cultivated around the world.

City Winery was supposed to open in March but was set back due to the pandemic, opening instead in June. Dorf says they are excited to be safely open for business.

 "It's really been challenging, but what's been great is the embrace of business around wine to go, café dining," says Dorf.  "That's been great. We're doing better than we thought we would."

City Winery is open Thursday through Sunday for dinner and lunch as well on the weekends. Temperature checks and screening are done at the door, and contactless ordering is available.
