A 13-year-old singer-songwriter from Warwick made her national television debut last week on NBC’s hit show “The Voice.”
Julia Roome’s silky smooth rendition of “Dream a Little Dream of Me” catapulted her to certain stardom and into the next round of the competition. A clip of her singing on the season’s second episode Sept. 26 has 1.4 million views on YouTube.
The homeschooled eighth grader had been in Hollywood, California at Universal Studios for the show since June and returned home after the episode aired.
Roome released her first album in 2021, with several original songs. She says the international recognition from the national TV competition has been amazing.
“This opportunity is super big,” Roome says. “I’ve already gotten verified on Instagram, which I’m super excited about overall. it’s just been really, really fun.”
Roome chose to work with superstar judge Niall Horan for the next portion of the competition.
