A series of raids in Yonkers landed more than a dozen accused gang members under arrest Wednesday.
A witness says unmarked vehicles carrying federal agents and Yonkers police arrived at the Calcagno Public housing complex at 55 School St. at around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, where some of the arrests were made.
In all, 13 accused GMF gang members were indicted on charges including murder, conspiracy, drug sales and racketeering. One of the accused gang members was arrested in Port Chester. One was already in federal custody. Another is serving time in a federal penitentiary while another was in state custody on unrelated charges.
The charges stem from a federal investigation of the gang that began in 2008.
A spokesman for the Yonkers Police Department told News 12 that the investigation is far from over. He said two of the accused gang members managed to elude the feds and are still on the loose.
More arrests are expected.
