Ten of the 12 democrats battling for the open seat in the 17th Congressional District debated on one stage in Nyack and for the first time, it was televised.
The seat will be made vacant as Rep. Nita Lowey announced last fall that she planned on retiring.

Attendees observed that many of the candidates were respectful of their time, their answers and each other.

In fact, News 12 asked the candidates which of their opponents they felt was the least qualified, and many of the candidates answered that they felt that all of their opponents would be fit for the position.
Voters told News 12 on the way out that they were appreciative and grateful to have a chance to hear from the candidates for this seat.
