One man is dead after a single car crash on the Major Deegan Expressway.
According to police, a 35-year-old driver was killed when his Ford Explorer slammed into a tree. There was no one else in the vehicle.
It happened at around 3:15 a.m., between exits 10 and 11 on the northbound side of the roadway. It caused significant delays at the start of the morning rush.
Officials say that heavy rain and wind most likely played a role in the accident, but the investigation is ongoing.
