A man in his 20s was injured Monday during a daylight shooting on the streets of Mount Vernon.
The shooting occurred on South Fourth Avenue. Witnesses say the shooter got out of a vehicle, walked up to the victim and shot him on a sidewalk full of children. Police say the victim was shot in the chest and possibly the shoulder. He?s expected to recover.
Residents say they are fed up with the violence and shootings in the area. Some even say they aren?t surprised about Monday?s shooting.
Many residents believe the police department is doing all it can to stop the violence, but say parents should be doing more.
Police are still searching for the suspect, who they believe knew the victim.
