A shooting on Van Cortlandt Park Avenue in Yonkers Sunday night left one man injured and another behind bars.
Police say the incident started at 5 Van Cortlandt Park Ave. when a man confronted another man about neighborhood gossip. Authorities say the incident escalated into a chase with a machete and ended in gunfire.
According to police, a 37-year-old man was shot in the back. He was taken to St. Joseph?s Hospital and later transferred to Westchester Medical Center for surgery.
Police arrested 28-year-old Juan Franko-Ortiz on first-degree assault charges.
