A Yonkers man will spend five years in prison for choking his girlfriend until she lost consciousness — while their toddler was nearby.

The Westchester County District Attorney's Office says 42-year-old Jorge Garcia was convicted of strangulation, assault, unlawful imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a child.

Prosecutors say the attack happened in October 2023 after Garcia became enraged when his girlfriend knocked over a coffee machine in the kitchen. He tore down a camera that had been set up, dragged her to the bathroom and left their then-2-year-old son alone in the hallway.

Garcia strangled the woman until she passed out. She suffered permanent injuries, including a fractured cheekbone that required a titanium plate.

In addition to five years behind bars, Garcia will serve three years of post-release supervision. The judge also granted permanent restraining orders for the woman and child.
