Yonkers man admits to defrauding immigrants out of $80K

He promised Hispanic immigrants help fast-tracking their path to U.S. citizenship.

A man has pleaded guilty to stealing thousands of dollars from immigrants in a long-running scam.

Authorities identified the man as 70-year-old Juan Cedillo. He promised Hispanic immigrants help fast-tracking their path to U.S. citizenship.

The Westchester district attorney said it was a scam that ran from 2013 to 2019. Cedillo fled the country after taking about $80,000.

He is expected to be sentenced to one to three years in prison and must repay the victims.
